Original Story: How the Ocean got filled with Salt

A long  time ago, the ocean was fresh and clean and there was no salt, not even a bit. People got to drink it, get cleaned , and use it for laundry. 
In the village of Radavan, there were two brothers named Shiv and Laddo, and Laddo’s wife named Misty. Misty always made Shiv do all the work and never let him rest. Misty kept her husband Laddo lazy, never making him do any work. Shiv was never  allowed  to sleep in the house and barely got to eat. 
One day Misty yelled out ,“ Shiv you are so lazy, go get some coal from the cave so I can make a fire to cook the food.” Shiv was never lazy and what she said made Shiv sad, but he always is willing to help. 
He went to the nearest cave. But then, he saw a bunch of trolls! They were hundreds of them, each  protecting a golden fan with gold and diamonds around it.
They wore sparkly and fancy clothes, but they were also stretched up, allowing them to jump and move really fast.
One of the trolls saw Shiv and quickly said ,“Chief, there is an intruder in the cave!” in a whiny and accusing voice.  When the chief heard this,  he yelled out, “How dare you come  into the cave!” When the troll came and showed himself to Shiv he was surprisingly small but dangerous. They had many weapons. 
  Shiv turned a little and saw millions of weapons for each of the trolls. Shiv was wondering in fear what they were going to do to him.
Shiv said frightened “ I- I’m sorry sir,  I just need some coal for my sister in law.” “ Liar ! People who enter this cave just want our treasure!” Said the Chief.
 “No , I just looked for the nearest cave.”
 “If you are telling the truth, go outside and do us a favor. Get us some berries from the lake right next to our cave.” So Shiv did what the Chief of the trolls said and brought some berries from the lake.  
Then the Chief of the trolls said, “Eat one of the berries you brought  from the lake and tell me how it tastes.  If you are lying  the fruit will be very bitter , so bitter you won’t be able to eat it. But if you are telling the truth, the fruit will be very sweet and tasty.” 
Shiv ate one of the berries. Shiv’s hand shook as he picked one of the berries. He didn't know if it would be sweet or bitter. He took a bite and said, “ Yum, so sweet !” The Chief looked surprised. “Wow, you are the first human who I met that didn’t lie. I will give you a gift for your honesty.” 
The Chief  handed Shiv a magical fan. “When you use this magical fan,  say I wish three times,  and whisper to yourself what you wish for. Please use it for good.”Shiv promised he would use it for good.
 Then he looked at his sparkly and golden fan with a warm breeze, and said his first wish.  He wished he could  get new clothes that he really needed.  His clothes were all dirty and ripped. Then Shiv wished for a better life , where he was respected  and loved. 
He told his sister in law, “ I am going to leave this house to make a new  living. If you want, you guys can move in with me and we can live happily together.” Misty said, “Oh Shiv,  you need to learn that you're USELESS, so don’t think we’re going to go to your so-called beautiful home and live with you! It’s a cute dream but it will never happen.”
Shiv left with his magical fan and wished for a job as a doctor. He soon became a rich man, but never forgot to be kind. He gave prizes so kids wouldn’t get scared during their doctor visits, and treated poor patients for free. Meanwhile, his brother and his sister in law became very poor, and Misty got so jealous she wanted to end him.
 One chilly day, there was a knock on his door. When Shiv opened it, he saw his mean family members shivering by the door. “I’m sorry Shiv. Please let us in.” pleaded Shiv’s sister in law with a shallow voice. Shiv knew it was cold outside, so he helped them to a hot cup of tea and let them live with him. 
He was so happy to see them again.
“ Misty and Laddo,  if you want you can come with me to deliver some salt to the store.” 
Misty knew before that he was going to a boat ride but didn’t know she would go too. Misty secretly tooked his fan, and wished for very heavy salt so Shiv could drown and the empire could be all hers and her husband Laddo.
 Misty soon forgot about the heavy salt and when Shiv took them on the boat, there was so much salt that the boat  broke  and the salt  went to the bottom of the ocean.
Thankfully Shiv, Laddo, and Misty finally found help to get back home. Misty felt guilty and told them what she did. As they looked back at the ocean, they saw something amazing. 
The moment the salt touched the ocean floor, all the waters began to sparkle and change.
In an instant, every ocean, every sea across the world became salty.
 The magical fan's power had transformed all the world's waters forever. Shiv forgave Misty with the promise she would never do such things again, and they all lived happily ever after.
And that's why even today, when you taste ocean water, it's salty - a reminder of how one person's jealousy changed the world's waters for all time.
