Heartwarming “Happy Mother’s Day” Celebration in New York An inspiring and vibrant cultural event organized by SRS International Women’s & Girls Club Inc.

A soul-stirring and heartfelt celebration of “Happy Mother’s Day” was held on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the Juice Center in Jackson Heights, New York. Organized by SRS International Women’s & Girls Club Inc., the event was a colorful blend of love, gratitude, emotion, and community spirit.The event was presided over by the club’s founder and president, Sabita Das, while renowned cultural organizer and elocutionist Munmun Saha conducted the program with warmth and elegance.
With the participation of Bangladeshi expatriates as well as individuals from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds—including men, women, and children—the celebration became a truly inclusive cultural gathering.
Emotional Opening Ceremony
The event commenced with a symbolic balloon release followed by one minute of silence in remembrance of the martyrs, freedom fighters, and Biranganas of Bangladesh’s Liberation War. Both the U.S. and Bangladeshi national anthems were performed, setting a tone of solemnity and pride.
A floral tribute was offered to all mothers in attendance, honoring their sacrifices with love and respect. This was followed by heartfelt speeches, poetry recitations, musical performances, and a special segment recognizing exemplary mothers for their contributions across various professions.
Dignitaries and Guests of Honor
Assembly Member Steven Raga (District 30) attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he extended heartfelt Mother’s Day greetings and urged everyone to treat mothers with the dignity and care they deserve.
“A mother takes on the roles of teacher, nurse, worker, and homemaker. She sacrifices sleep, dreams, and comfort to raise us. Let us never forget our responsibilities to our parents,” he said.
The inauguration was officially announced by Dr. Prabhat Das, Director of the organization, who spoke passionately about the global history and significance of Mother’s Day.

In her address, Munmun Saha expressed:

She added,

In her concluding remarks, Sabita Das, founder and president of the organization, said:
