BHBCUC-USA Protests Continued Detention of Chinmoy Das Despite High Court Bail

The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, USA (BHBCUC-USA) strongly protests the continued detention of Chinmoy Das, former ISKCON leader and spokesperson of the “Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote”, who was granted bail by the High Court earlier in a so called “sedition” case related to a 2024 Chattogram rally.
Despite receiving bail at 2:00 PM, his release was blocked just hours later, at 5:00 PM, when the Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division issued a stay on the order, pending further proceedings.
BHBCUC-USA condemns this weaponization of legal and judicial process by the interim government for political gain and religious hated legal suppression and demands the immediate release of Chinmoy Krishna Das and others falsely charged. We call upon the international community to stand against such persecution of minority voices in Bangladesh lead by a professor Yunus who won Nobel peace prize only to use that against the minority religious Hindus.
