Bangladesh Day Parade Set for May 17 in New York — Grand Celebration Planned in Jackson Heights

Excitement is building within the Bangladeshi diaspora community in New York as preparations intensify for one of its largest and most prestigious cultural events—the Bangladesh Day Parade 2026.
A press conference titled “Parade Executive Committee Meet and Greet with the Press” was held on April 1 at Nabanna Party Hall in Jackson Heights. Organizers shared detailed plans regarding logistics, security, cultural programming, and broad community participation for the upcoming event.
The parade is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 17, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, along 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights, spanning from 69th Street to 87th Street. Organizers confirmed that all necessary permits have been secured from city authorities and emphasized that this year’s event will be larger, more organized, and more vibrant than ever before.
The event is jointly organized by Immigrants International, the Jackson Heights Bangladeshi Business Association (JHBBA), Humanity Empowerment Rights Foundation, and the Bangladeshi American Police Association (BAPA).
Organizers described the Bangladesh Day Parade as more than just a cultural অনুষ্ঠান—it is a powerful symbol of unity, pride, heritage, and identity for Bangladeshi Americans. They noted that the event plays a vital role in strengthening cultural roots among the younger generation.
The press conference was chaired by Parade Committee Chairman Attorney Moin Chowdhury and moderated by Member Secretary and Convener Fahad Solaiman. বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন Convener Gias Ahmed, BAPA President Captain A.K.M. Safiul Alam (Prince), Grand Marshal and former President of Bangladesh Society M. Aziz, Chief Event Coordinator Ahsan Habib, Event Coordinator Famed Rocky, Coordinator Abdus Sobhan, and Parade Coordinator Faisal Aziz, among others.
New York State Assemblyman and State Senate District 12 candidate Steven Raga attended the event and extended his শুভেচ্ছা to the organizers. Also present were State Assembly candidate Shamsul Haque, journalist and columnist Shah J. Chowdhury, Republican leader Nasir Khan Paul, along with other prominent members of the community.
Organizers announced that the parade will feature participation from elected officials, mainstream political leaders, celebrities, and numerous cultural and community organizations from both the United States and Bangladesh. The Grand Marshals for this year’s parade will be former Bangladesh Society President M. Aziz and former Member of Parliament and Chairman of Thikana Group M.M. Shahin.
Convener Fahad Solaiman extended an open invitation to the Bangladeshi community, stating, “We invite everyone to join us on May 17 in Jackson Heights. Your participation will make this event truly successful and memorable.”
Speakers emphasized that collective efforts are essential to make this grand celebration a success, highlighting that the parade will proudly showcase Bangladesh’s red and green flag while promoting unity, culture, and heritage in the diaspora.
The organizers also expressed sincere gratitude to members of the media, acknowledging that their continued support plays a crucial role in the success of such a large-scale community event.
