Swami Shubhananda Puri Maharaj Inspires Youth Toward Spiritual Reform at Bangladesh Hindu Mandir

A significant religious gathering was held on Saturday evening, January 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Bangladesh Hindu Mandir in New York. The event featured spiritual discourses from Swami Shubhananda Puri Maharaj, head of the Sri Sri Advaita Mission of California, who delivered Bhagabatiya Kathamrita to devotees. His eloquent speech and melodious devotional songs created a solemn and spiritually uplifting atmosphere throughout the temple premises.
The program began with a welcome address by the temple’s chief priest, Shri Shankar Parial, who also introduced Swami Shubhananda Puri Maharaj to the gathered devotees. The temple’s esteemed president, Dr. Debabrata Dutta, formally honored the Maharaj by presenting him with a garland.
In his sermon, Swami Shubhananda Puri Maharaj urged the younger generation to embrace spiritual discipline, moral values, and the path of self-improvement. Through thoughtful analysis of ancient Indian yoga practices and spiritual philosophies, he emphasized the importance of religious practice in self-purification and the cultivation of human virtues.
As part of the cultural segment, Saptrishi Roy and Sarika Karmakar, students of the Bangladesh Hindu Mandir–run Gita School, received praise from the audience for their performances of devotional opening music and Gita recitation, respectively. Swami Shubhananda Puri Maharaj also rendered several bhajans in his own voice, accompanied on the mridanga by Shri Kajal Das.
The religious gathering concluded with kirtan and arati led by the chief priest, Shri Shankar Parial.
The successful organization of the event was supported by the collective efforts of Sarbashi Sagar Roy, Dilip Das, Sabita Das, Shankar Biswas, Kamna Karmakar, Sanjoy Karmakar, Sheila Roy, Monika Das, Suman Karmakar, Ratan Chakraborty, along with other volunteers and devotees of the temple.
