Bengali International Literary Society (BILS) to Host Grand Literary Gathering in Monsey on November 9

The Bengali International Literary Society (BILS), a diaspora-based organization dedicated to promoting Bengali language, literature, and culture, is set to host a special literary and cultural gathering on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 253 Ackertown Road, Monsey, NY 10952.
The day-long program will be presided over by Dhanonjoy Saha, Founder and President of BILS (Monsey, NY), and will feature distinguished poets, authors, and community leaders from across the United States and South Africa.
The event will begin at 12:00 noon with lunch, social networking, and photo sessions. At 1:00 p.m., President Dhanonjoy Saha will officially welcome the guest poet, David Lee Morgan from London, UK.
From 1:05 to 1:45 p.m., community leaders and writers will be introduced, followed by poetry readings.
Community leaders include: Debol Gupta (Sparta, NJ), Titania Gupta (Yorktown Heights, NY), Dr. Kausik Kar (Goldens Bridge, NY), Ashvini Persaud (Queens, NY), Sagar Lohani (Bronx, NY), Gyana Mella (Spring Valley, NY), Ora Sucov (Monsey, NY), and Clara Rozario (Bronx, NY).
Participating authors include: Sanghamitra Bhattacharya (Livingston, NJ), Faqir Elias (Queens, NY), Farhana Elias Tuli (Queens, NY), Suma Rozario (Queens, NY), Ashvini Persaud (Queens, NY), Dhanonjoy Saha (Monsey, NY), and Benojir Sikder (Bronx, NY).
Additional readings will be presented by Ishrat Bokhari (Monsey, NY), Danella Rosario (New Rochelle, NY), and Thokozani Ndaba (Johannesburg, South Africa).
From 1:45 to 2:45 p.m., guest poet David Lee Morgan will recite the English translation of Bangladesh’s National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s masterpiece “Bidrohi” (The Rebel), along with his own original works “Uncle Tom’s War,” “Haiti,” and “The Whipping Machine.”
The cultural segment, scheduled from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m., will feature recitations by Sanghamitra Bhattacharya, Clara Rozario, and Nilufar Zarin, and musical performances by Andrew Shantz (Paterson, NJ), Dr. Shewli Roy (Goldens Bridge, NY), and the renowned Indian maestro Ustad Kamal Sabri from Mumbai, India.
The program will conclude with a vote of thanks from 3:15 to 3:20 p.m., followed by a farm tour from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.
