Bangladesh Puja Samiti of New York Concludes Grand Durga Puja Celebration: A Magnificent Display of Faith, Culture, and Unity

Progga News Desk, New York, October 5, 2025:
The Bangladesh Puja Samiti of New York successfully concluded its two-day grand Durga Puja celebration and Dashami rituals on Saturday and Sunday (October 4–5, 2025) at the Gujarati Samaj Hall in Fresh Meadows, New York. The festival became a vibrant reflection of religious devotion, cultural pride, and the unity of the Bangladeshi Hindu community in the United States.

From early morning, devotees gathered to offer prayers and worship Goddess Durga, filling the hall with the sound of conch shells, dhak beats, and sacred chants. Throughout the day, visitors enjoyed prasad distribution, children’s dance performances, and a captivating cultural program featuring popular artists from both New York and India. As night fell, music, lights, and devotional songs illuminated the venue, creating an atmosphere of spiritual joy and festivity.

Thousands of devotees attended the two-day celebration, which has become one of the most anticipated religious and cultural events in the Bangladeshi diaspora calendar.
President Ranjit Purkayastha and General Secretary Biplob Pal extended warm greetings and heartfelt thanks to all devotees, guests, and well-wishers who joined the event.

Among the distinguished guests were Deputy Commissioner Dilip Chauhan and Advisor Bishnu Ghosh (Bishu), who praised the Samiti’s efforts in preserving cultural and religious traditions abroad.

We must remain united and raise our voices against the persecution of Sanatan believers in Bangladesh. Unity is our strength, and from the diaspora, we stand firmly with our brothers and sisters back home.”

He added, “May Goddess Durga inspire us to awaken justice against injustice, and light against darkness. We also demand the immediate release of Chinmoy Prabhu, who has been wrongfully detained for his leadership in defending the rights of the Sanatan community in Bangladesh.”

Other prominent guests included Navendra Dutta, Republican leader Nasir Khan Pal, Dr. Pradeep Kar, Julie Kar, Kumar Babul, Suman Das Priyas, Ashish Roy, Chandan Sen Gupta, Subarna Sengupta, Dr. Mita Ghosh, Dilip Nath, Deepa Nath, Priotosh Dey, Deepak Das, Govinda Baniya, Gopan Saha, Ranjan Kumar Saha, Biswajit Saha, Julie Saha, Jaya Chowdhury, advisor Deepak Saha, Paresh Saha, Rajib Nandi, Utpal and Dalia Chowdhury, journalist Sanjiban Kumar (Weekly Sandhan), Kanu Dutta (DBC TV), Uttom Kumer Shaha (Progga News), Sujon (Mim TV), photojournalist Tapas Saha, community leader Sanjit Ghosh, and many others.
