Strong Bangladeshi-American Support in Jackson Heights — Rally and March for Mayoral Candidate Andrew Cuomo

Progga News Desk:

Jackson Heights, the heart of the Bangladeshi community in New York, witnessed a vibrant show of support for Democratic mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo on Monday, November 3, 2025. A spirited rally and march in favor of Cuomo began at Diversity Plaza, led by New York Democratic District Leader Dr. Dilip Nath and NYC Community Board member Fahad Solaiman.
The event drew notable community figures, including former City Councilman Hiram Monserrate, community leader Yasmin Fattah, prominent Jackson Heights businessman Shakil Miah, and Clinton Democratic Club Secretary Manik Deloar, along with a wide cross-section of Bangladeshi-American community representatives.

Speakers underscored the importance of experienced leadership in maintaining economic stability and public safety in New York City. “Only a proven leader like Andrew Cuomo can restore confidence during these critical times,” they asserted, citing his capacity to address key issues such as education, public safety, housing, and mental health.
They further emphasized: “The Bangladeshi and South Asian communities aim to solidify their presence in the leadership landscape of one of the world’s largest megacities. Cuomo’s election as mayor would strengthen and elevate the role of South Asians — particularly Bangladeshis — within city administration.”

Following the discussion, the atmosphere in Jackson Heights came alive with chants like “Forward with Andrew Cuomo,” “Vote for Cuomo,” and “We Stand with Cuomo.” A truck-led procession then made its way through various streets and avenues in the neighborhood, joined by enthusiastic Bangladeshi-Americans. Observers noted that this growing support could significantly impact the electoral dynamics in New York City.
This powerful show of unity unmistakably reflects the rising hope and confidence among Bangladeshi-American voters in Andrew Cuomo as the next mayor of New York City.
