The Bangladesh-American Republican Alliance has officially thrown its full support behind former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the upcoming New York City mayoral election. At a spirited gathering held on November 2nd at Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, Queens, community leaders and members of the organization voiced their unified endorsement, asserting that Cuomo’s seasoned leadership is vital to restoring order, safety, and progress in the city.
The meeting was presided over by the Alliance’s Chairman, Nasir Khan Pol, with General Secretary Priyotosh Dey serving as host.
“Andrew Cuomo has pledged to restore mayoral control over the city’s education system, while also doubling the number of ‘Gifted and Talented’ and specialized schools—this commitment could bring transformative change to our education system,” Nasir Khan Pol noted in his remarks.
Democratic District Leader Dr. Dilip Nath stated, “The Bangladeshi and South Asian communities demand stable, strategic leadership at this critical time. When it comes to managing economic recovery and public safety in New York City, no one is more qualified than Andrew Cuomo.”
Community Board member Fahad Solaiman added, “From public safety and housing to education and mental health, instability is rising across the board. Cuomo’s experience uniquely equips him to bring practical solutions to these pressing issues.”
Community advocate Kajol Mahmud emphasized, “If elected, Andrew Cuomo will ensure greater government representation for South Asians, particularly Bangladeshis.”
Other notable attendees and speakers included former Councilman Hiram Monserrate, community leader Yasmin Fattah, Alliance Vice Presidents Dr. Rezaul Karim and Bidyut Sarker, Imam Kazi Abdul Kaiyum, and South Asian leader Yashprasad, among others.
Speakers highlighted Cuomo’s commitment to transit reform, affordable housing, strengthened mental health services, and modern urban management—policies they said would reshape the future of New York City. “Experience, capability, and courageous leadership—Andrew Cuomo embodies all three,” they affirmed.
The program concluded with a spirited rally in support of Cuomo. Chants of “Move Forward with Andrew Cuomo,” “We’re With You,” and “Vote for Cuomo” echoed through Hillside Avenue.
